Summer
- Summer School- Make sure to recover credits for any class you received an F or improve and D grade received. If not D or F grades, take classes to get ahead.
- Volunteer- Looks for places in your community that you are interested in helping at.
- Prepare for PSAT- Juniors can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship based on PSAT scores. Go to Khan Academy for practice https://www.khanacademy.org/
- Dual Enrollment- You can take classes at a community college. You will need to apply to the college and then get a dual enrollment form from you counselor.
- College Enrichment Program- sign up to take a summer program at a university. It's a great opportunity to explore a campus, college life and college level work.
- Grades- make sure to get a C or better
- Extracurricular Activities- join a club, get a job, do community service and or participate in sports. Do something that demonstrates involvement and leadership skills.
- PSAT- take the PSAT in October and do you best to see if you qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.
- College Visits- attend any lunch college visits at school or schedule tours with the campus you're interested in.
- College and Career Fairs- attend our annual fair to learn more about what you can do to prepare.
- Counselor Meeting- schedule a meeting with your counselor to discuss your goals for the future.
- SAT / ACT- Sign up to take either the SAT or ACT during the Spring semester. You want to make sure to at least one of these test 2-3 times. To sign up for the SAT or ACT go to the College tab for a link to their site.
- College Interest List- make a list of our top 10 colleges. Make sure you include safety, reach and dream schools.
